We are delighted to provide multiple opportunities for our boys to participate in After-School Programs at Stuart Hall. Our After-School Programs include sports, school-sponsored extracurricular activities, and fee-based after-school enrichment activities (registration required).

    Weekly meetings will include fun, interactive, hands-on experiments and labs which help to instill an understanding of scientific principles and how they affect the world around us.

    • Chess - Intermediate (1st-4th)

      The Intermediate Chess Club is for all players who already know basic mechanics and rules of the game. In the
      intermediate Chess Club Session (Wednesday 2:30-3:20), we will go more in depth with tactics, combinations, openings, endgame play, and positional thinking. As basic players progress through the year, they may be permitted to move into intermediate class upon demonstration of key concepts and skills. Intermediate players will have the opportunity upon demonstration of key core concepts to play for Stuart Hall’s Chess Team.

      Chess team is school-sponsored (no charge), but please register. Prior competitive experience required.

    Participation on the Stuart Hall Chess Team and the Chess Team Practices are free of charge. If your son played on the team last year, or has competitive experience, he may join the Chess Team/Advanced Session. ***A Stuart Hall Chess Team Player does not have to join Chess Club to play for the team. Please be advised that the emphasis of the Chess Team Practice (Wednesday at 3:30pm- 4:20pm) will be on focused learning of finer concepts and greater detail at the competitive level, and as such, the tone of the class will require properly attentive and mindful classroom behavior.

    • History Adventures (3rd-7th)

    History Adventures is for students who love history! In 6 sessions, participants will discuss topics ranging from the French Revolution to World War II. Interactive projects, fun discussions, interesting videos, and WebQuests will make the study of history into a real adventure!

    • Lower School & Middle School Choir 2nd-7th Grades

      No cost to students but please use this registration platform to enroll your son.

      This Lower School & Middle School Choir will meet on Thursday's going forward, no longer on Wednesday. The choir performs for all of the Stuart Hall Community Masses, special events and Christmas season performances. Middle School students also have the opportunity to audition and represent Stuart Hall at the District VI Honor Choir that takes place in the Spring. Attendance is mandatory, students missing more than 3 rehearsals are not eligible to perform for off campus events during the Christmas season.

    The Beginner Chess Club is for new players with no significant knowledge or experience in chess, and the Intermediate Chess Club is for all players who already know basic mechanics and rules of the game. In the Beginner Chess Club Session (Friday, 3:30- 4:20), players will be introduced to the rules, mechanics, and fundamentals of chess play.
