Boys in grades 1 through 5 are welcome to join Cub Scouts. Stuart Hall Pack 24 has nearly 100 boys participating in scouts! Our boys participate in a Pack Event approximately once per month in addition to a den meeting/event approximately once per month. Parents and boys run the Pack, so parents are asked to help out in whatever role works for them. Volunteer opportunities are endless.
Our pack events include the Fall Campout, Car Wash, Raingutter Regatta, and Christmas Service Project in the Fall, followed by a Scout Mass, Mardi Gras Scout Parade, Pinewood Derby, Spring Campout, and Blue & Gold Banquet in the Spring.
Pack 24 is focused on fun and community. We design our program to afford time for boys to participate in other extra-curricular activities, such as various sports, chess and K4J.
Annual dues include food for the whole family at campouts, banquet, car and boat kits, awards, Boys Life Subscription, and BSA insurance. Financial assistance is available for dues, and used uniforms are often available, both through the school Business Office.
To purchase uniforms and scout handbooks, visit the local Scout Shop, located at 4200 S. I-10 Service Road West, in Metairie, between Causeway and Clearview, 70001. They are open M-F 9-6, Saturday 10-4, and closed on Sunday.
We encourage the boys to wear uniforms to school when there is a den meeting or Pack event. The blue shirt should last from 1st grade through 3rd grade and then they move to the khaki Webelos shirt for 4th and 5th. Since the boys wear the school uniform from the waist down and scout uniform from the waist up, we typically don't buy the BSA shorts, socks, belts or hats (since hats cannot be brought to school). Webelos need the BSA pants/shorts.
All adults are asked to please assist your den leaders by attending meetings when you can, and by offering to bring non-sugary snacks and drinks to one of the meetings.
