We are delighted to provide multiple opportunities for our boys to participate in After-School Programs at Stuart Hall. Our After-School Programs include sports, school-sponsored extracurricular activities, and fee-based after-school enrichment activities (registration required).

  • Building with LEGOS: (K-1st)

  • Intermediate Chess: 2:30-3:20

    The Intermediate Chess Club is for all players who already know basic mechanics and rules of the game. In the intermediate Chess Club Session (Wednesday 2:30-3:20), we will go more in depth with tactics, combinations, openings, endgame play, and positional thinking. As basic players progress through the year, they may be permitted to move into intermediate class upon demonstration of key concepts and skills. Intermediate players will have the opportunity upon demonstration of key core concepts to play for Stuart Hall’s Chess Team.

  • Chess Team: 3:30-4:20

    Participation on the Stuart Hall Chess Team and the Chess Team Practices are free of charge. If your son played on the team last year, or has competitive experience, he may join the Chess Team/Advanced Session. ***A Stuart Hall Chess Team Player does not have to join Chess Club to play for the team. Please be advised that the emphasis of the Chess Team Practice (Wednesday at 3:30pm- 4:20pm) will be on focused learning of finer concepts and greater detail at the competitive level, and as such, the tone of the class will require properly attentive and mindful classroom behavior.

Soccer Shots New Orleans is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development.   • After School Art - Constructing Creative Critters (1st-4th)
    Instructor: Mrs. Kirsten Anderson

    $160/ per student

    Students will have the opportunity to create a 3D sculpture of an animal of choice including a zoo animal, a dinosaur, or even their favorite pet. Throughout the six sessions, the students will sketch a design, construct an animals’ body with a variety of materials, and papier mâché and then bring their animal to life with paint.

 
  • Writin' with Style! (5th-7th)
    Instructor: Mrs. Katie Adair
    3:45-4:30 | 8 Weeks | August 22, 29 September 5, 12, 19, 26 October 3, 10
    $125/ per student

    Boys in grades 5th-7th have an opportunity to learn an approach to writing that provides the structure that students need to develop confidence in the writing process, while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and creativity. They will learn several structural models (writing paragraphs, stories, & writing from pictures). Additionally, stylistic techniques (strong verbs, quality adjectives, sentence openers, and more) will be taught incrementally to gently move students from the basics into more sophisticated writing.

    Choir is an amazing opportunity for your son to express himself musically and contribute to the school community by performing for mass and various special events. The Fall term culminates with our annual Christmas Concert tour. The boys represent Stuart Hall at venues across the city and always bring the joy of singing everywhere we go! Middle School choir students have the opportunity to audition for the District VI Honor Choir. All boys from 2nd-7th grade are welcome to join the choir!

  • TUMBLEBUS Big Easy (PreK3, PreK4 & K)

    TUMBLEBUS Big Easy builds confidence, focus, strength and specific early childhood gymnastic skills. All boys in PreK3, PreK4 and K are welcome! Classes are held on Friday afternoon’s. It’s important to realize that TUMBLEBUS is sometimes canceled because of inclement weather but everyone will be notified at least 2 hours in advance. Missed classes are always made up by adding extra time to the next two classes. Also, there is a small risk is participating in gymnastics. TUMBLEBUS has a 40 year safety record and is fully insured to operate in Louisiana.

  • Beginner Chess

    The Beginner Chess Club is for new players with no significant knowledge or experience in chess, and the Intermediate Chess Club is for all players who already know basic mechanics and rules of the game. In the Beginner Chess Club Session (Friday, 3:30- 4:20), players will be introduced to the rules, mechanics, and fundamentals of chess play.
