“Education is formation, not just information.”

The difference is formation.

The Stuart Hall experience goes far beyond what happens in the classroom. It’s about eye contact and a firm handshake. It’s about building a foundation for a life centered on a love for learning, a desire to help others, and a commitment to Gospel values. It’s about teaching boys to be Kind, Courteous, Respectful, and Responsible.

The Stuart Hall experience is about formation of the entire boy.

Stuart Hall immerses boys in a supportive, character-based culture in which he can thrive inside and outside the classroom. From our boy-centered curriculum to our supportive atmosphere to the breadth of extra curricular, athletic, and after school activities, Stuart Hall’s focus on formation produces young men of character, integrity, and boundless capability.

Philosophy

  • Faith

Faith is the basis of living a life founded on Christian principles. Faith is at the heart of what it means to be a Christian. Stuart Hall seeks to develop in each boy a strong faith in God, in himself, in others, and in our country.

  • Scholarship

Scholarship is the outcome of a challenging, creative, and well-balanced approach to the curriculum. A firm, solid understanding of basic concepts and mastery of basic skills is essential if the student is to develop his talents and his gifts in mastering the higher orders of thought and expression.

  • Leadership

Leadership is best developed by encouraging the unfolding of each child's own special gifts, his feelings of self-worth, and competence. Stuart Hall challenges the child to use all of his gifts wisely and to accept the responsibility for his actions.

  • Honor

Honor is a basis upon which all other values rely. Honor springs from sensitivity to the needs of others. It is the development of character within each child through the building of respect, integrity, and honesty. The living out of these endeavors creates the attribute of honor within a child.

Stuart Hall’s approach encourages boys to develop self-esteem and teaches them to see mistakes as a way of learning.

Our program helps boys develop values while they deepen their relationship with God.

Here at Stuart Hall, boys make friendships that last a lifetime, gain a sense of self-confidence, and exhibit the traits of respect, integrity, and honesty.

  • Qualities of the Month

Each month, the school focuses on one of eight qualities of character development — Friendship, Compassion, Thankfulness, Peacemaker, Courage, Perseverance, Responsibility, and Honesty.

During the month in weekly Chapel, in the classroom, and throughout school life, boys are encouraged to learn and grow in this particular quality. The emphasis is on individual growth in a life of virtue.

Each grade level from Kindergarten to Seventh Grade leads the school’s focus on a Quality of the Month. Faculty initiate class activities and discussions, service projects, or creative writing exercises that enable the children to reflect on and practice the month’s quality. Students are honored for showcasing individual growth at First Friday services.

  • Morning Chapel

The first day of the school week for Lower and Middle School begins with Chapel at 8 a.m. The Morning Chapel service is a special way for the student body to connect through prayer, special presentations, student recognitions, and school announcements.

Parents are always invited and encouraged to join their sons for Chapel.

Our Preschool Knights attend Chapel on Wednesday mornings. Preschool Chapel is a special time where the boys recite the Pledge of Allegiance, discuss our Quality of the Month, and pray together for friends and family.

  • Knighthood Investiture Program

The Stuart Hall Knighthood Program provides the Middle School boys with a unique opportunity to develop their understanding and commitment to our School’s pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Faith, and Honor. Our founder, Bill Gallop, created this program to recognize the formative growth of each of our boys over the course of their Stuart Hall career. The Program serves as a culminating process to actively engage with the School’s mission and to support our students as they grow from good boys into great men. A faculty sponsor will serve as a guide and mentor to each Candidate during their journey towards Knighthood.

Truly encompassing the mission of our school, the opportunity to join the Knighthood of Stuart Hall is both an honor and a responsibility.

  • Faith Formation

Stuart Hall seeks to develop in each boy a strong faith in God, in himself, in others, and in our country. Stuart Hall is a unique expression of Catholic education because it is administered and staffed by lay people. The traditions of Catholic education, such as First Friday services, Mass, chapel, the religion program, and the prayer life are meaningful expressions of Faith.

Boys are encouraged to grow in their faith through participation in the religion program and schoolwide services, such as monthly Mass and weekly chapel. Faith is at the heart of campus life, and the foundation. The entire student body participates in age-appropriate chapel services, community prayer, and religion classes.

  • Buddy Program

In an effort to bring older students together with younger students to enrich role-model relationships, Stuart Hall has developed the Buddy Program. The Kindergarten is paired with the 7th grade, PK4 is paired with 6th grade, and PK3 is paired with 5th grade. Throughout the year, shared activities are planned. The older boys may read to the younger students on occasion. Other activities may include lunch together, Mass sponsorship, etc.

  • Round Table

The Round Table is a Middle School Student Leadership program whose function is to act as a Student Council. It is comprised of representatives of fifth, sixth, and seventh graders. The Round Table provides an opportunity for members to initiate and promote greater student concern for and participation in all student activities. It also provides the opportunity for students to resolve common concerns of the school community. The Round Table sponsors events to raise funds for specific school projects.
