Stuart Hall Receives Donation of Two AEDs

Stuart Hall School for Boys was pleased to accept a donation of two automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, from the Chad Barcia Athlete Awareness Foundation as a measure to help enhance student safety. The donation was presented by Mrs. Nancy Barcia Monday in Morning Chapel on Jan. 10, 2023.

The foundation has donated nearly 200 AEDs to schools, churches, and other organizations that participate in athletic competitions. The foundation is named in honor of Mrs. Barcia's son, Chad Barcia, who died in 2005 at the age of 17 from sudden cardiac arrest caused by an undiscovered genetic heart condition. He was a senior at De La Salle High School.

While this is especially poignant timing following the national conversation surrounding Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin’s recent collapse and hospitalization, Stuart Hall has been working on a plan to increase the number of AEDs on campus as part of its ongoing safety and security planning. We are so grateful to the Barcia Family and their foundation for this incredible gift.
