There is extensive research into the way that boys and girls learn, and it is now evident that boys and girls do learn differently for biological and educational reasons. 

Boys learn best through movement, hands-on activities, spatial and visual experiences, play, and cooperative assignments. An all-boys environment helps to foster lifelong friendships and form a brotherhood among classmates.

  • Preschool (PK3-K) Preschool (PK3-K)
    The Preschool level focuses on learning through discovery and play, offering hands-on experiences that foster a love of learning. Emotional and social development are emphasized through thematic units and guidance from the school counselor. Small-group activities encourage collaboration, independence, and academic growth.
  • Lower School (1st-4th) Lower School (1st-4th)
    Creativity and intellectual curiosity are encouraged within a strong academic framework in the Lower School. Learning is enriched through classes in art, library and technology, music, physical education, Tinker Lab and Science, social-emotional learning, and French.
  • Middle School (5th-7th) Middle School (5th-7th)
    The Middle School experience is both challenging and purposeful, designed to meet the unique developmental needs of boys during these formative years. While rigorous academics remain at its core, the program emphasizes the development of essential skills and thinking.

    In the classrooms, halls, and grounds of the school's Uptown campus, boys become leaders — in school, their homes, their careers, and their communities. The school's structure and mission foster an environment that values both character formation and academic rigor. Stuart Hall holds this high standard of behavior to encourage the transformation of boys into young men.

    Boys are encouraged to discover their unique gifts, cultivate a strong sense of self-worth, and develop their competence. Stuart Hall challenges each boy to use all of his gifts wisely and to accept responsibility for his actions. Boys attend enrichment classes in French, Spanish, Latin, religion, counseling, art, library tech, music, STEM, Tinker Lab, Financial Literacy, and physical education.

From our boy-centered curriculum to our supportive atmosphere to the breadth of extracurricular, athletic, and after-school activities, Stuart Hall’s focus on formation produces young men of character, integrity, and boundless capability.
