Chess Team Shines in State Tournament

Stuart Hall's chess team had an impressive showing at the Louisiana State Scholastic Championship in Baton Rouge last weekend. Seventh grader Austin Janusa won first place in the K-8 division with an undefeated record of 5 wins and 0 losses, making him the official 2023 Louisiana State Scholastic Chess Champion in the K-8 Division. As a team, Stuart Hall secured second place in the K-8 division, with Janusa, Grayson Bent, and William Redmann representing the school.

Additionally, Stuart Hall placed second (team) in the K-4 division with Henry Leckert and Raunak Anand as the team's players and in the K-2 division with only two players, Andrew Mills, and Auggie Redmann.

Congratulations to these Knights for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event.

Following the winning weekend, Austin had this to say about his team:

"As the coach of this remarkable team, I am incredibly proud of our knights and their accomplishments. It has been an honor to lead and coach them, and I am grateful for the opportunity. Although I will be departing for Jesuit, Stuart Hall and the Chess team will always have a special place in my heart. I hope to see these young faces at future tournaments and watch them grow stronger in their chess abilities. Please know that I am always available for guidance and support."
